The
Dementia Unit at Wesley Enhanced Living at Brodheadsville
provides comfortable and safe accommodations; expert,
caring staff; and an innovative approach to daily
activities that provides a stimulating, high-quality
living environment for individuals who are coping with a
medically diagnosed form of dementia.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has awarded us the special designation of “secure dementia unit,” an achievement that signifies our commitment to providing the highest quality care and service. In order to earn this mark, we’ve met stringent building standards, completed a thorough review of upgraded operational standards by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and have employed a specially trained staff to meet the specific needs of our residents.
Additionally, to ensure maximum safety and security for our residents, we’ve incorporated a “limited access” feature into the design of our living environment. This allows residents to enjoy complete freedom within the building and adjoining garden, while eliminating the danger of wandering off of the premises through the use of magnetically controlled door locks.
Accommodations in our dementia unit are designed to provide maximum comfort and safety for residents. All rooms provide easy access to our beautifully appointed community rooms and dining facility. Additionally, residents can access our secured, well-maintained garden year-round.
Unique Approach to Dementia Care
At Wesley Enhanced Living Brodheadsville we use an innovative, proactive approach to maintain and enhance quality of life for our residents who are coping with dementia. This approach, based on a modified Montessori program, makes us truly unique among aging services providers. Through this approach we identify and optimize each individual’s abilities, as well as find ways to successfully compensate for his or her disabilities.
Additionally, we strive to help our residents maintain the many precious memories that make up their lives. Our Dementia Care Coordinator accomplishes this through a deliberate and detailed process that involves input from each resident and his or her family members.
