A Tradition of Giving WEL

(Click on a story below to read it.)

> Prudence Leads to Security, Generosity

Friends and family would describe Mr. M. as "frugal." This retired electrical engineer takes pride in his life-long ability to make prudent financial decisions. Now a resident of one of WEL's continuing care communities, Mr. M. is a bachelor who enjoys hiking and traveling. He took yet another carefully planned step to enhance his financial well being: He created a charitable gift annuity with the WEL Foundation. By doing so, Mr. M. created an ongoing, tax-free income stream for himself and provided support for an organization whose work he trusts and directly appreciates.

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself."

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

> Creating a "Family" Legacy

A gift of real estate is a most generous donation! The WEL Foundation is gratified to have received such a gift resulting from the sale of a congregation's parsonage. One woman, Mrs. B., a resident of one of WEL's continuing care communities, is single-handedly responsible for making this gift possible. She has been a steadfast, generous supporter of the WEL Foundation. As a leader of her religious community she recognized the opportunity that presented itself when her congregation was compelled to sell property. Then, she vigorously advocated on WELF's behalf to secure that gift. In doing so, she helped her congregation fulfill its faith-based goals and enhance the value that she personally contributes.

"The heart of the giver makes the gift dear and precious."

– Martin Luther

> A Tradition of Generosity

Tradition, family, and faith are the cornerstones of Mrs. T.'s life. A philanthropist, community leader, and advocate for the elderly, Mrs. T. is a second-generation, life long supporter of WEL Foundation. Soon, Mrs. T. will become a resident of one of WEL's continuing care communities in whose mission she strongly believes. Her donations to WELF have always been multi-faceted, encompassing marketable securities, planned giving, and cash donations. In this way, she lives her faith, continues her family's tradition, and provides herself with important tax deductions, taking care of herself.

"It's not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich."

– Henry Ward Beecher
