Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park $3.1 Million Capital Campaign
Rooted in the Community, with Promise for the Future
Wesley Enhanced Living
Pennypack Park
Capital Campaign
For nearly a century, Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park, formally known as Wesley Enhanced Living at Evangelical Manor and commonly referred to as the Manor, has remained a stable and vital presence, ministering to the needs of older adults in Northeast Philadelphia. In 1930 we opened the stately doors of this community at its present location. We are proud to say that they have remained open ever since.
WEL Pennypack Park (the Manor) fills a large need in the community for affordable, quality retirement living for approximately 300 older adult residents. The organization also provides employment for over 250 people who live in the vicinity.
With rapidly changing technology and advances in medicine, older adults now enjoy a higher quality of life than ever before. Because of the age and design of this community, the building cannot be adapted to meet these advances in standard of living. In addition to addressing the needs of current residents, Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park must be prepared for the influx of aging “baby boomers” in need of affordable retirement options. While we have responsibly stewarded our assets and resources, the reality is that this community is a very old building that is sorely outdated.
Revitalization through Renovation
Wesley
Enhanced Living Pennypack Park
is
undergoing a major facility upgrade to ensure that
residents have access to a comprehensive continuum
of quality services. The cost of the renovation
project is $23.1 million.
Given WEL’s commitment to providing adequate yet affordable housing options to older adults, we cannot offset the cost of planned improvements to Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park by raising the fees for our low- and middle-income residents. To give current and future generations of residents a home that they deserve, we have secured private financing and are working with the state to secure public sector support.
To complete the capital project, we need to raise $3.1 million from stakeholders and the broader community. Wesley Enhanced Living has already made significant progress towards this goal through generous leadership gifts amounting to over $2.1 million.
Now it is time to turn to people like you who deeply care about those who live and work at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. Our ability to transform this community for current and future residents and employees is linked to reaching our Campaign goal.
